About the Role
The Senior General Accountant ensures accurate and timely financial reporting of Penbrothers. Responsibilities include monthly and quarterly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis. The role involves handling internal, external, and BIR audits, preparing financial statements, and supporting forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis. It also focuses on process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and implementing best practices in AP, AR, and general ledger management. This position requires cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, Tax, Payroll, and FP&A to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
What you’ll do
- Execution of monthly and quarterly close, ensuring accurate results are delivered on time for reporting in accordance with IFRS/PFRS and prepare/review journals, accounts reconciliation and fluxes for the assigned accounts/clients
- Handles internal and external audits and assists on BIR audits
- Assists and Prepares Financial Statements within the agreed timeline as directed by the Finance Manager
- Assist in forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis particularly on transactions affecting the assigned clients and identify and research variances to forecast, budget, and prior-year expenses
- Help lead the implementation of best practices on accounts payable, accounts receivables and general ledger team to simplify, standardize and scale our business
- Support external and internal audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility and help develop/refine RTR accounting processes and procedures
- Work cross functionally with technical accounting, Finance, Legal, AP, Payroll, FP&A, Tax and various business owners on policies, processes, and help drive key system initiatives and improvements
- Support other team members of the accounting team on the financial reporting standards
- Implement process improvements and cost saving initiatives
- Timely review and updating of process documentation
- Perform other tasks as assigned
What you bring
- At least 5 years of experience in the Accounting & Finance industry
- Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in General Accounting, General Ledger management, and periodic accounting closings
- Proficiency in accounting software, experience in NetSuite required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related fields
- A CPA qualification is preferred, but not required
- Strong expertise in journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments
- Experience in financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and reporting
- Working knowledge of local tax regulations, compliance requirements, and financial audits
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
